Aaron and Beckys Surfari!
We got it! The wheels are here, watch out children crossing the road cos Colin McCray and Frank Spencer are behind the wheel!
After searching the depths of Brisbane for a quality van, we were still drawing a blank. A new plan came into action and we went to a company which specialises in selling vans to backpackers. For the priveledge we only payed a couple hundred dollars more, but get warranties, breakdown and all the trimmings! We got a white Toyota Hiace, 1989, long wheel base. She needs a bit of personalisation, but once becky gets her flural wallpaper in there which she keeps talking about (?!) then im sure it'll look just like home...or a bad curry house! Shes got a bed and storage for the boards, but we are going to pimp her up a bit with more storage and facilities inside...pictures will follow! We dont pick her up until Tuesday as shes having a service before the handover, so we are stuck in brisbane looking for a couple of days work to make use of ourselves until then. On Tuesday we will head to Noosa to check out the job and surf situation for the time of year! Been a week now without a surf...longest of the trip so far!
So yes, the mood is all good here, and the sun is even shinning today!
Not a lot else has happened, but a little amusing incident did make us laugh......we were having a social drink in the hostel bar and were talking to these lads who had bought a van for cheap, they told us to check it out in the morning to see what they got for their money. As it was only parked out the back though and we left the bar early, we went for a little look. So there i was, doing my usual of pretending to know what i was i doing....bouncing the van up and down checking the suspension, banging the panels to see if they fell in through the rust, and running my fingers along the window seals like a true pro...thought we'd have a look in aswell to see the interior, so plant our faces up against the window and what are we met with but a huge white arse staring us straight back in the face! Turns out one of the boys had got lucky, obviously was in a rush though as he didnt close the curtains, and well...we were only talking to them 15 mins before...fast mover!!! we couldnt stop laughing.
Think this wasnt as funny though as the Dutch guy who we are sharing a room with....he met a girl staying in another hostel and thought he would go and suprise her in the middle of the night, to cut a long story short, he got the wrong bed and started kissing this girl whilst she was asleep and talking in dutch, said girl who he was kissing jolts up and starts shouting at him in a cockney accent, he realises the error of his ways and leaves quick, but is chased down the streets of Brisbane by the girls meat head boyfriend in his pants!!
Nothing amusing happening to us though..maybe next update!!
We need a name for the van, all suggestions welcome!
see ya later
