The overnight bus was pretty impressive to Pucon. Despite the comfort we still did not manage to sleep so arived at Pucon very tired. For the first time in ages some one tried to sell us their hostel but we stuck with our guns and headed to our first choice which turned out to be a good choice. On our way we picked up two other people (Vicky and Matthew) who also came to the hostel. Keeley was pretty happy as the hostel included a vegeterian resturant. The first night we had a meal at the resturant and then had a few drinks around a hot fire.
Up early the next day but unable to climb the volcano as bad weather so we went off for a walk in Huerguehue national park. It was wet and misty on the walk but we were the five from our hostel and two brazilians who did not exactly look prepared. One girl was wearing black shoes with buckles. The walk was a lot of up no veiws due to mist but we all enjoyed the walk the forest was beautiful and it was very peaceful. The brazilian girls made it to the first two lakes before turning back an achievement. Lauren who had come with us from Santiago made it all the way in trainers although did fall down a few times on the way down. That night we went out for dinner and a few more drinks. It started to become a bit of a routine.
Next morning up early again and no volcano as weather still bad so had a nice lazy day and then some more cheap but good wine. I feel meeeting Vicky and Matthew was not the best thing for our drink less policy. Pucon is very nice but in the wet with one arm limited things to do.
We decided to go on another walk this time with a guide in El Cañi reserve. The weather was better as no rain but still lots of cloud. The guide only spoke spanish me and Keeley thought we managed quite well. The forests were primevial looking expected to see dinosaurs at any moment. We tried some of the fruits of the forest a red berry was very nice but a nutty thing was horrible (Keeley liked it).
Our last day in Pucon was another lazy one before the bus back to Santiago. We nearly missed this bus as went out to eat a little late after a couple of drinks and had to half run from the resturant made it with 60 seconds to spare.
So no sleep back in Santiago picked up two passports met Claire and had a few drinks met Patricia and Helena had a few more drinks. Went to a local bar where the football was in the locals cheered every time a girl went to the toilet and everytime she came out I found it funny. Out of the bar late we walked back to the hotel. Keeleywas bare footed as her flipflops broke. Got back to the hotel at 2am and had to be up at four to get to the airport not our best planning to date.
