Milly didn't want to do the 2.6 km walk to Kathleen springs but Jed said lets go. The walk was nice and gentle on flat ground and led us into a rocky gorge with a nice little waterhole at the end. No swimming allowed though due to the springs being a sacred Aboriginal site.
Once back at the car we were pretty tuckered out (literally) and we're starting to think about lunch. We thought we'd get on the road and make our way towards Ayers Rock and find somewhere to stop along the way for a lunch break. We picked out a couple of spots on the map that looked like they might be good spots to find some shade and have a break.
One of them was noted as a dam in the map but we didn't get to the dam as each track we took off the bitumen said 'No Entry' as it was Aboriginal land and a protected area.
This frustrated us both as we were tired from the early start and walking almost 12km's before lunch in the heat!
