So went from auckland to rotorua where we arrived in the evening and went to a polynesian spa. These are spas which are heated through the natural springs occuring as it's a geothermal area. The whole place stinks of rotten eggs but the geothermal activity is cool. On the way to Taupo the next day we saw Lady Knox Geyser erupt and saw mud pools. Then when we got to Taupo Donna and I went horse trekking through the 'craters of the moon' which are natural hot springs. They're at least 212 degrees! Stayed in Wellington last night and then got up at 5.30am to catch a flight to Picton, so struggling to stay awake now!flying over was definitely worth it, though, as the ferry takes 3 hours. Also the flight was very scenic. Glad to be back on the south island, although it's much colder it is so much prettier. Off to Nelson today and going to stay there a while.
