Raj: A cruisey day today with only one thing on the agenda. We took a 30 minute ride on the Autobahn (and dared faster speeds) on our way to Andernach to see the Geyser Andernach, the worlds highest cold water geyser. To get to the geyser itself we took a short boat cruise along the Rhine River, but with enough time for me to sample another fine German beer. The trip was very picturesque with well presented traditional houses lining the river banks, and steep hills above filled with grape vines, very reminiscent of this part of Germany. The geyser was a 'blast', and reached a good height much to the delight of all. We took the opportunity to taste the water which we found a bit salty. Not like sparkling mineral water and we all had tic tacs afterwards! We later visited the Discovery Centre back in town (all part of the ticket) where we learned about geology and specifically cold water geyers. I have to say it was very educational and I enjoyed playing with the hands-on interactive equipment as much as the next kid. I've always said I'm the 3rd kid on this trip, so we're lucky to have Vikki around to tell us off when needed and cap the stupidity!

Harley and Anouk: Today we went to see the biggest cold water geyser in the world called Geyser Andernach. We got to go on a flash boat first, then a short walk through some bush. The geyser went for about 8 minutes and it got bigger and bigger and bigger. It can shoot up to 60m high. You were allowed to try some of the water from a bucket and we thought it might be a bit fizzy, but it just tasted like yucky salty water. When the geyser was over we went back on the boat to a discovery centre where we learnt about the earth and the geyser. We learnt that cold water geysers are created by a build-up of carbon dioxide and the middle of the earths core is really hot, over 6000 degrees.
In the centre we got to try lots of different things like pumping water with levers, making bubbles in water and guessing hot and cold temperatures. Our favourite one was a big spongy ball that went up and down in the air when we turned a dial. Check it out under our videos.
There was a quiz which we did as we walked around and as we got all the questions right our prize was some sour orange popping candy - yum.
