We took jeeps to visit the rural villages of India. As we drove through the villages you could instantly tell that they had never seen white pope before, they found us all fascinating. Kids where chasing our jeep down the road!
Our first stop was at the farming fields, it was interesting to see how it is mostly women working in the fields and harvesting the food. However before this we had only seen men as the main workers.
We then stopped in a small village. Girri told us that all the people here have never had an education as they believe strongly against it. They think if they send there children to school that they are going against the family’s traditions (which is ridiculous). It wa lovely to see so many smiley faces although they were living in such tough conditions. The houses where made of mud and cement and the main beam through the middle was a palm tree stalk.
As we walked through the villages, we passed so many different ages. We went into someone’s house where they were making tea on the stove, as we walked passed the girls giggled, I think they found it funny that we were taking pictures as we found there living so fascinating. I very little boy became very attached to me, he hung onto my arm for a while then we played a few clapping games. After this he pointed at my bum bag and bag, asking if he could have it!
After a the visit we stopped off to the side of a dirt track road, we all sat on the edge of the road and watched the sun set, it was beautiful, the sun in India is so so orange!
