Quite literally the worst journey ever. Laos seems to provide a mix of stunning backdrops and horrendous roads. The Journey was such hard work, made worse by the fact that the bus we paid for was more accurately, a seat in the back of some geezers car while he and his family sat in the front, ate weird fruit and listened to 'music' which i believe, was created by squeezing cats and holding micropones near their wiskers...
I also believe that this journey might just be one of the most scenic drives on this planet. Lord of the rings without that p****Orlando Bloom.
Lang Prabang is a quiet little town sitting on the Mekong River which is sorrounded by National heritage sites on both land and water. The Mekong River is awesome. We saw a local boy taking a poo in it.
We hired bikes again and rode around the area, soaking up the sights and making the most of the first bit of sunshine we have had in weeks!
We were lucky to meet some awesome people while eating in the Night Markets which made our evenings fun, drinking at The Hive Bar and Eutopia before heading back to our hostel, which was run by a guy who looked like David Walliums on crack. He had flappy fingers and a wagging tounge.
He scared me.
We are heading to Vietnam tomorrow evening on a brisk 25 hour bus journey...... The bus has beds which is a bonus. But no toilet??
Anyways - Laos is beautiful. What China used to look like years ago aparrantly. It is an awesome place, and soooo far from the McCommercialism of Thailand. I havn't even seen a McDONALDS!!!!!!!
