Nic and Katie's Adventure!
The sense of history you feel, knowing you are on the same road that millions of people have travelled over time is weird.
All of us trying to discover something or explore something unique, where really, we are all going in the same direction, on the same road, and only our day to day experiences are what makes our journeys different.
Route 66 decided the route, we decide the journey we take.....
All a bit deep isn't it....
We stopped in Winslow, Arizona, and stood on the corner. Just like the Eagles did when they wrote that song, "take it easy." The town was proper old Skool. We explored the place, got a few souvenirs and had a photo with the statue standing on the corner... Route 66 at its commercial best.
We continued our journey through into flagstaff, a short hour or so journey from the grand canyon. That night we headed out for a Greek Feast!! The waiters were amazed at the amount of food Rob and I ordered, Katie was amazed we didn't order more.....
We got some rest so we were fresh for the Grand Canyon the next morning. We wanted to be up bright and early to hit the road!
The morning light came and all excited, we switched off the alarm and slept for another 2 hours....
The Grand Canyon was totally mental. SO huge that, I personally, was totally underwhelmed by it... You just couldn't focus on a particular point, it was just huge open valleys and craters a miles deep, birds looking like black dots below your feet and the Colorado river looking like a blue snake, meandering in and around the rocks at the crater floor....
It was almost as amazing as that fat women we saw in Texas.
We also stopped at 'The Petrified Forest,' another beautiful nature park. The views as we drove around in the car were stunning. All sorts of colours and landscapes which could have easily been used for movies based on the moon or mars.
It really did look, like the moon landing scene...
Tomorrow meant we were T-24hrs until pick up point. We had to pick up Alex and a new Mustang at Las Vegas airport before checking into The Luxor Hotel.
Mission almost complete.....
Peace and flip flops
