Nic and Katie's Adventure!
New Mexico part deux
So we started heading back towards the West coast in our quest to find the long lost better brother, Alex.
Our mission was simple, Head west, try not to be stopped by police again and reach Las Vegas by 8pm on June 20th where we would pick up Alex and a brand new replacement Mustang at the airport....
We had only a few days to the pick up day and great deal to fit in.
We had a stop over in Albuquerque, where we played some beer pong in our motel room..... 3 contestants - uncoordinated Rob, non sporty Katie and a PE Teacher. Needless to say 2 out of the 3 got very drunk while the latter.... Didn't.
We also headed up into northern new Mexico and stopped at Roswell, the place where all that crazy UFO shizzle went down a few decades ago. The museum was massively disappointing, totally downplaying and dumbing down any suggestion of alien invasion and instead making it out that anyone who believed, was a little crazy.... This suggests to me that something very odd indeed did happen....
The Roswell town people however, were, without doubt, totally head metal. The town was horrifically run down, empty buildings where did lay business and pavements where now lay crack heads. Face down. Un washed. Searching for cigarettes.
A really eery place, with an awesome empty road leading out into Arizona which we stuck to the speed limit on and spent a few days heading into the Arizona desert lands.
The drive into Arizona was beautiful, genuinely amazing natural landscapes everywhere you looked. Nothing for over 100 miles at a time and then a cliche American diner and a dusty car park.
Already, looking back on those few days driving in the heat and sunshine, with the wind blowing through my pubes and the sense of freedom on the road - I smile and remember how relaxed life can be....
Next stop Route 66 towards the Grand Canyon!!!
Peace and UFOs
