We ended up coming here from Agra, rather than our planned trip to Khajuraho and Varanasi, because we're running out of time and also didn't fancy the hours on buses and trains to get across the north of India. Hooray we made it to see the Taj Mahal at last! We took a sleeper bus last night from Pushkar, and found ourselves bleary eyed wandering Agra streets at 5.30am. However we found a hotel, got breakfast and were in the Taj Mahal before the crowds which was excellent - watch out for cheesy photos. We also managed to see the Agra Fort and Akbar's Tomb - very impressive, and will go to see Fatehpur Sikri tomorrow which is an abandoned city just outside Agra. Phew ...

Hi, we are relaxing in Pushkar at the moment, although the painfully slow upload rate is getting annoying now - will have to wait for more photos when our patience returns or we find a faster connection. Pushkar is pretty, although quite commercial for a holy town. It is built around a small lake, and there are lots of temples and priests and pilgrims. Merry Christmas, everyone! We are spending Christmas in Jaisalmer, in the west of Rajasthan. We got here two days ago. We met a Belgian couple on the bus here, and have been spending time with them pottering around the town. In fact we are staying in the fort, which is just like a little town, with lots of shops and narrow streets (unlike the other forts in Rajasthan which are cultural monuments and museums). It's apparently the only fort like this in the world...
