It is now our fourth day in Thailand and it has been a great four days. Our first night in Bangkok was spent at the Lub D hostel, the nicest one we've stayed in yet with the most other tourists. The next day we went to a couple of bangkok's biggest shopping malls and then took an hour and half tour through the canals that run through Bangkok, showing plenty of wats (temples) and traditional Thai homes along the canals, many of which were abandoned and collapsing into the water. From Bangkok we took an overnight train (which was filled with bugs of all sorts and sizes, and first class was already sold out so we had to sit in just regular seats) for 12 hours and then a one hour bus ride to an hour and a half ferry, to finally arrive on the beautiful island of Koh Samui in the Gulf of Thailand. We walked down to a most excellent beach and hung out there for most of the day and got a 250 baht hour-long massage. We are currently waiting at the ferry dock to get to Koh Phangan where we will meet up with one of my friends from the mountain and then carry on to do the full moon party all night. Wish us luck!
