So...we're not quite living the Australian dream at the moment! Stacy and I arrived in Windorah on Monday night. Its a small town with one post office, one shop, one garage and an information centre where we get free internet access! We work in the only pub which is also a hotel/motel. The work is fine, the locals friendly and the town is nice, despite being very very remote! Everything is really expensive here but we are getting our meals and accommadation for free. We are basically doing shift work that involves cleaning rooms, kitchen hand and bar work. We dont get any days off but on our 2 cleaning days we have the afternoons free. There's nothing to do here anyway so we wouldnt want too much free time!!

Unfortunately our boss isnt the friendliest person I've ever met...she's very critical and short, making no attempt at conversation! She actually shouted at me yesterday because I didnt know how to transfer a phone call....it was only my 4th day!!! We have also found out that the hotel has been sold and the new owners don't want back-packers, the take-over date has been set as 17th October. But when I asked about this our boss insisted she didnt know when the take-over date was or if we would still be able to work here! It's all very frustrating after paying $180 and travelling 21 hours to get here!! But we have decided to stick with it for the moment until we know more about what's happening!
