Yesterday I arrived in Rainbow Beach. We took a 5 hour bus journey from Brisbane, arriving at about 5pm. We went to the beach for about an hour, got some food and had an early night. Most of us are still catching up on sleep! I am now with the whole gruop, 15 people. There is a bit of a divide at the moment between the 7 germans and the rest of us but everyone seems really nice. This morning we went to the beach, its hot here from about 9am!! But it gets dark really early, by 6.30pm its pitch black! So we came back after lunch and are now going on a 40 min walk to see a fresh water lake. I am a bit dubious about whether it will actually take 40 mins, am expecting it to be more like an hour. I'm also getting nervous about the farm work as its so hot here already I cant imagine working all day in this heat and its only going to get hotter. But I will find out how I'm going to cope with that on Monday when we take a 45 min bus ride in-land to Gympie.

The hostel here is really nice, very clean with a nice shower and kitchen/bar area. Its quite a quiet town with a few shops and cafe's and the beach is fairly quite. Perfect for relaxing and catching up on sleep though! I also bumped into Katie Thomas, a friend from Leeds who is currently travelling in Australia - what a coincidence?!
