After finally arriving in Pucon after a 12 hour night bus trip which was one of my worst we went to the hostel where we had booked. Over the last few months we had visited a few pharmacies because I was having trouble with dry skin mainly around my eyes. We must have visited and got about 10 different creams from 4 countries and I thought I'd give it one last try and went to the chemist at the petrol station across the road from the hostel(not as dodgey as it sounds) to get another one. On the bus trip I knew that my eyes had swollen up a bit and they felt different. I still had my sunnies on at 7am from the Bus station to the hostel like some kind of rock star and went straight to the bathroom to look at them. When I took my sunnies off I got a huge shock. I was not a rock star at all. I could hardly recognise myself and had obviously had some kind of allergic reaction to the cream. After the initial shock, panic and tears I put the sunnies back on and went to get Junior who decided it was about time we went to the doctor. I showed Rich, Dan and the hostel owner who orgainsed a little excursion to the doctor. Dan came as my offical translator and Rich and Junior came as my support crew.
They gave me all sorts of stuff to help which I took straight away. Still with the sunnies on it was time for breakfast finally. We had a quick breakfast then went back to the hostel to watch the english football and play cards all day as I was in no mood for site seeing.
Pucon is a winter skiing town and then in the summer its full of white water rafting and mountain climbing. We thought we better chill for a few days before I start doing those activities.
The next morning we ha a nice sleep in and checked out emails to find out that something had happened back home. We got in contact with Sarah to find out that Rex had passed away.
We couldn't beleive it.
We bought a bus ticket back to Santaigo for that night, said our goodbyes to the boys and headed straight back to the embassy to get emergancy passports. A couple of hours later we were ready to fly home. Sarah had already booked us on flights for the next night.
We stayed once again at the Casa Roja where Tania looked after us again.
