Been on the road a few days now and have travelled through Camarillo, Solvang, Merced and now at Monterey. The coastal drive is beautiful, especially the Big Sur area which winds right above the sometimes misty sea. We stayed in Solvang a Danish village placed in california. Very strange as seemed like a fairy tail film set, with wooden buildings and bell towers!We also spent a half day at Hearst Castle, a former home/project of a wealthy business man. It was steep on top of the california hills but felt more like a spanish mansion. It was full of antiques and luxury and was frequently used by hollywood actors like Carey Grant and Charlie Chaplin, even Winston Churchill stayed there. Truly amazing place.
Yesterday we headed to Yosemite national park. It was an awe inspiring place with dramatic mountains and waterfalls! We took a dip in the river and had a drive around but was hard to fully appreciate the place as so many people were there clogging up the roads!! (it was a saturday)
