Early start from our dive of a hostel- won't be sorry to see the back of that place. We had to be at the bus collection point by 7.30, with all our bags. We had just enough time for breakfast before being loaded on to a tiny bus full of mosquitoes- the joy of warmer weather! The bus toured the town picking people up for about an hr before arriving back at the point we had started from! Why did we need to be there for 7.30? We had a long ride to the Mekong delta. On arrival we boarded a small wooden boat and were taken across the mighty mekong to a small island. We drank honey tea, and ate coconut candies. We then got on a smaller boat for a ride down a tiny stream. After having lunch we took a bike ride around the island- Roos handle bars were not attached tightly enough each time she went to turn the wheel remained straight and the handle bars twisted- very amusing! The whole day was very touristic not really my thing but it was interesting to see. Having spent the day walking around HCMC yesterday- my first day in flip-flops since last summer my feet were wrecked I have blisters on blisters on blisters, so I was pleased to not have much walking to do today! We arrived in Ben Tre early evening. They had a big night Market/ carnival on to celebrate Tet- Chinese new yr which is a 2 week celebration starting next week. We walked about and had some delicious pho on the street.
