SO just a quick one really as we didn't get up to much in Boston as a few of the attractions and sightseeing bits were closed for the winter so we took time to chill out! On Friday 14th we took an early train up the coast passing by some amazing looking little new england villages would have been nice to get off but oh well there always another time. So we finally arrived at the train station and made our way to the hotel at the airport. It was sooooo comfy the room that is and there was a big couch and a laundrette and a pool so we just chilled out for the evening, watched a bit of TV and ordered some pizza.
When we woke on Saturday 15th and looked out the window it was snowing!!!!! and not a boring little sprinkle it was really coming down. So after doing a bit of washing (its not all glam doing this travelling stuff you know) we headed into Boston for a look around. We checked out the area around the historic Fanuiel and quincy markets, there was a croc shop and they were $30 a pair how cheap. We walked around the harbor which reminded us of liverpool a little, although it was bloody freezing.
So After a wander around and a stroll though boston common where all kinds of historic stuff took place we ended up at the pub that inspired cheers! Was quite cool and we both had a Sam Adams (the local beer). Afterwards we planned to go to a nice restaurant but being a nice restaurant there was a bit off a dress code and we couldn't be bothered to go and get changed so we got corn dogs and seafood from the market.
NOW then Sunday 16th was the St. Patrick's Day parade in 'southie' the mainly Irish part of the city. So we got the bus then squeezed and i mean SQUEEZED onto the a couple of tube trains (or the 'T' as they call it there) to a stop near where the parade was finishing. WE took a pew and waited a while to we saw some of the emergency services cars and what not come passed. Then there was a little more entertainment from drunken teenagers, fancy dress and people stripping off.
Finally the rest of the the parade came along and it was a collection of marching bands, high schools, boston celtics cheer leaders grrrrrrrrr, some star wars geeks and an elvis impersonator! All in all it was good fun and was/is well worth a watch. Afterwards we went for a guiness and retired to bed!
