After a quiet night in Picton we got our ferry to Wellington at 8am. # hours and a couple of films later we were in Wellingotn and checked into a hostel. I then arranged to meet Vicki (who I had met in China) who had been living out here for a few months working. Went for a few beers with her and Andy that afternoon. Was really really good to chat and catch up with her especially since she was one of the first people I had met along my travels. We sat and watched the American Presidential Election in the pub, whcih by the way was totally packed you would of thoguht a World Cup final was on!!!!! We then grabbed a couple pizzas and went back to the hostels bar to eat them. After a few drinks here I found a note on our dorm door which said to go to reception. They told us we needed to change rooms due to our current room having bed bugs!!! Nice first real incident of any room problems but I hadn't been bitten so far so moved my stuff went back to bar and was not overly bothered by it!!! The girl who discovered them mind you was, she was covered head to toe in bed bug bites!!! Gutted.
After a few beers we went met couple of Vicki's firends and watched fireworks display over Wellington Harbour (Guy Fawkes Night you see). Really good firework display although none of those high pitched fireworks the fizzle then bang, you know the ones I mean, their a favourite of all of ours. Still watching fireworks being set off over Wellington Harbour wasn't half bad. After this we all headed back to the pub for more drinks. Couple hours later Vicki had a phone call and then a few minutes later Rob (guy from Manachester we both also travelled bit with in China) turned up!! This was really weird as these were two people I had first met 8 months previously in Beijing. Rob had been lving in Queenstown for last few months and was now heading back home but had come up to Wellingotn prior to his flight out of Auckland. Really good laugh and thouroughly enjoyed catching up with them both, needless to say a few drinks were had and the 10am check out the following morning was not a welcome sight!!! Would of been good to stay another day or two and do some more stuff with them both but flight to Fiji was departing in couple days and was quiet excited about the aspect of some sun and beaches again, so about midday we headed off to Ohakune to try and get a final days snowboarding in prior to getting back to Auckland for our flight.
