For the 4th and final week of the Indonesian experience we went to Karimunjawa Island which took 6 hours on a very over crowded ferry!
Karimunjawa was untouched by tourists and surrounded by other beautiful deserted islands which we sailed out to everyday. We discovered on the first day that the beach on Karimunjawa was used purely for trade - the white sandy shores was scattered with dead fish and washed up flip flops and bottles, and with the local fishermen keeping a watchful eye it wasn't the most ideal place to lay your towel down!
But this didn't matter, the deserted islands was what it was all about! On the second day we sailed out to an island, stopping along the way to snorkel on the reefs. We relaxed on the beautiful beaches and swam in the crystal clear waters. For the rest of the week we followed a similar routine sometimes stopping for a couple of hours to catch some fish. What we caught on the day we'd then cook on one of the islands and have for lunch! For dessert our captain climbed up a coconut tree and cut us down huge coconuts! With a quick whack of his machete the tops were off and we were sipping on sweet coconut juice!
As well as snorkellng on the coral and we also swam with sharks!
The sunsets were also pretty amazing, which i say everywhere i go, i know! But other than that there wasn't really much more to it! We ate fish everyday, 3 times a day for a weeK! the fish was a fresh as it gets, given that we were on the beach, but still, 3 times a day!!?
