Day 6 - Day trip to South Rim, Grand Canyon.
Drove this morning to the Grand Canyon via Tusayan on a cloudless day, climbing to elevations of over 8000 feet. Parked up adjacent to the visitor centre, after paying our $25 vehicle entry fee and went to take our 1st view of this amazing place. It's definitely one of those jaw dropping moments when you get your initial glimpse of this great gaping deep canyon. Taking the free shuttle to Hermits Rest gave us plenty of time to meander the 4 miles along the rim trail back to the car, and a short explore along the Bright Angel Trail, that takes you all the way to the Colorado River and canyon floor a mile down. Back in the car we drove along towards the East entrance stopping and taking in vistas along the way. Our final stop was at Lipan point to watch the sun set, followed by a drive back to Flagstaff in the dark via Cameron.
