Today was a sight-seeing day. We started at Tuol Sleng Prison or S21 as it is more commonly known. This is where a lot of Cambodian's were held during the Khmer Rouge & Pol Pot's reign of terror. This was extremely interesting & thought provoking, & strange to think that this only happened around 30 years ago. We followed up with a trip to the Killing Fields where the prisoners were taken to be executed. We saw all the mass graves that had been excavated & a lot of bones :-(
To cheer ourselves up we visited the Russian Market (not entirely sure what made it Russian). We had planned to have lunch there, but the food smelt pretty disgusting & had lots of flys buzzing around, so we skipped that!! We went to a local shopping mall for lunch, stopping on the way to take some photos of the grand palace, & followed lunch with a free afternoon. Joel & I decided to sample the snooker hall, we won't be playing again anytime soon judging by our awful skills.
Dinner was at another traditional Cambodian restaurant with school children running the kitchen. We then had a few more beers, but not as many as the other night ;-)
