So after another 3 hour bus journey we arrived at Chinnar wildlife sanctuary around 12pm.Our trek wasn't due to start until 2.30pm so we filled the time by doing one of our favourite things... eating! So 2.15pm came and our non English speakingguide (Shibu) came over armed with just a stick which was quite worrying as the sanctuary we are trekking through is home to Tigers, Leopards, Elephants etc etc!! As you can imagine Laura started with the nonstop questions "do you not carry a gun??...will we be safe???...Rich do you think we will be safe" haha!! So we set off, only it was more like a jog than a walk, it was as if he was in a rush to get back!!Anyway, after only around 30mins we climbed a 50m2 high watch tower and from the top we saw our first wild elephants, there were 2 adults and a baby one only about 100m2 away, was soooooo nice to see.About an hour in to our race... I mean trek, we heard a roar/grumble in the bush right next to us, followed by the soiling of Laura's pants, haha!!! We don't know what it was but Shibu didn't want to stick around....we think it must of been a elephant. We then trekked along the river where we saw Leopards footprints in the sand but unfortunately no Leopards, after walking further along the river we found ourselves back at base camp but we had only been gone for 2 hours of our 3 hour trek, so we asked to go further which we did, this was a bad idea...after another 20mins race up a mountain we found ourselves stuck in the middle of the one of the worst storms and we got absolutely soaked! So we spent the next half an hour walking back through the pouring rain and all we saw was a bloody samba deer! So we got back to camp and had a shower and waited for our overnight bus to pick us up and take us to Bangalore.
