Today, our last day, very sad. Not only do we have to say goodbye to Bernie tomorrow but also our good friends Alan and Cristina who have decided to make another go of it in Melbourne.
We arranged to all get together later in the day but first of all Bernie took us to the Eureka tower, an 88 floor building with observation deck on top. Apparently this is the tallest building in the Southern Hemisphere and it actually moves slightly in the wind-hmm, wasn't exactly happy to learn that!!
Anyway, we took in the views there for a while before calling on Alan and Cristina. They are currently staying in some serviced apartments opposite the tower and have great views of the city from their balcony. After a brief tour and catch up on their balcony we headed into town for some lunch. We found a great Italian restaurant where I had the nicest pizza I have had since getting to Australia. It had a lightly salted base and was really crispy, just how I like it, yum...
Anyway, Alan then had an interview for a job so we found a bar where we could wait for him on the south bank. It was yet another sunny and warm afternoon so we sat outside contemplating what to do next.
When Alan returned we decided to head back towards Bernie's to Chapel street as there was a happy hour from 4-8 in many of the bars there. It's quite an interesting street actually, dotted with trendy bars, restaurants and unusual shops.
What was going to be a relatively laid back evening turned into a bit of a mad one, the photographs tell the story....
Naturally I cried when we left and had to say goodbye to A and C-come back to London you guys!!!!!!
