The following day we drove along the coast, taking in the endless farmland and sheep before reaching the town of Oamaru, famous for it's penguin colonies. As we had already experienced penguins in Australia we decided to give this a miss and instead headed into town, which includes a well preserved Victorian quarter. Today we picked up our motorhome which we anticipated to be spacious as 4 berth. How wrong we were....After the initial palaver of a flat battery we were introduced to our temporary home. There's barely enough room to swing a cat. The main bed is a bunk above the driving seat and feels very claustrophobic so has become our suitcase storage area instead.
