This morning we reluctantly set about packing the car and were out of the cabin by 9, leaving the caretaker dude shaking his head (again) as he found one more bloody post he would have to re-dig and put back in- ahem ..... Stuart.
We wound our windows down and tried to breathe in as much of Fraser as we could, were treated to some more whale tail slapping (a bit further out), a few dingos and some ‘humpty doos’ for good measure. When we rounded the corner of the island and lined up for the ferry we were finally resigned to leaving. And.... were just cutoff to wait for the next one thanks to BADAPL (close relative of Gunner79) pushing in, it was another half hour till we drove on. We stopped and got an underbody wash at Inskip which washed all the sand and salt from the outside of the car, it will take a few months to wash the sand out of us and everything we own - and the inside of the car! Even longer until the ground in red dust leaves all those surfaces as well methinks.
We hit motorway traffic dragging above past and below Brisbane and pushed on to Coffs through constant 80km roadworks. Matty v proud of the longest stint without a toilet stop (3h40m), mummy not so happy however. Lost a few travelers after the second run through of Greatest Showman soundtrack. We stayed in a cabin at Sapphire Beach arriving at 8:30, just couldn’t face another setup and packdown after a week in a cabin, very spoilt but also a bit chilly and we were glad to slide into made beds, inside a building with a door!
