We are Sailing
Today is Dianne's Birthday, so HAPPY BIRTHDAY DIANNE! from all the crew and the people reading this blog. In the usual tradition you cannot divulge a woman's age, so I'll play it safe. But I will leave some cryptic clues for you to work it out for yourself, that way I am keeping to my end of the bargain.
It was time to move on to our next Destination, MLjet national Park. It is only about 2 1/2 hours Away, so the journey will be straight forward. MLjet is called "the green islaNd" due to its rich flora. The west part of the islaNd is declared as national park, the nature there is wonderful and there are two lakEs and some little villages.
We had our breakfast in a little café in Lumbarda, overlooking the Marina. Next stop was the supermarket, to top up our supplies. Then finally by late morning we were able to make a start to our destination.
Ray is suffering from the flu at the moment, and is quite unwell. He is trying very hard not to give it to us. Hopefully it will not be long before he is over it, and he can continue to enjoy the trip.
Roz took over the helm today, and dId a great job of getting us to the channel which is used to enter the bay we were heading for. Her direction was 60 degrees south +2. The girls made lunch on the boat and celebrated Dianne's birthday with some Champers.
Unlike the other areas of Croatia that we have Seen, the island is quite beautiful, and is fully covered with vegetation.
We finally reached our deStination of one of the little villages at the far end of the bay. There are several restaurants that have moorings In front of them, and the owners tout for your business by assisting you to tie up on the moorings. We selected the mooring in front of the "Spongy" restaurant. The berthing went quite smoothly, and for the first time we used two mooring lines for the front of the boat. (so Dianne and I had some more work to do). I will need to remember that when we eXit in the morning. All went smoothly and we alighTed soon after. We were patting ourselves on the back because the Thompsons were nowhere to be seen. Yes, we have done it!........ But on closer inspection we saw them moored on the other side of the bay. Brian's clever plan never worked. (we will now have to revert to Plan B)
The restaurant we pulled up to, was renoWned for its live fish, and also a dish called a Peca. In terms of the live fish, they are kept in cages under the jetty we were tied to. The owner simply comes a long with a fishing scoop and scoops up the fish or lobsters. You then choose the ones you want, and then hey presto they turn up on your plate nicely cooked. You can't get any fresher than that!
A Peca is a traditional Croatian dish. You have to order it hours in advance as it is slow cooked. ChEryl and I decided to try a Goat one for a change.
Later on in the evening we went out to celebrate Dianne's birthday. It was a really good night, and the Peca we ordered was outstanding. Both of us have never eaten goat before, but I can assure you it was nice. Brian managed to befriend a cat at the restaurant. The cat I think was thankful for the meal Brian was providing. Ray managed to consume about 3 glasses of brandy, with the hope that it will kill his bugs. Let hope it works. If it doesn't, it doesn't matter, he still looked like he enjoyed it!
It is a hot night, so I again will sleep up on the deck. Jo is sleeping in the kitchen to stay away from Ray who was confined to the leprosarium.
It is quite late so I will say good night. Just remember though, I never mentioned Dianne age.

glennandcheryl Hi Rhonda, it good to see you worked it out. We know who got the brains of the family, cos your older sister had a few difficulties with it. LOL
