Today was the big day.......... this morning pop and i had a fishing charter booked to go catch a barra. The reports wern't in our favour for barra as the water was a little cold but the odd big barra were still being caught and they had been catching heaps of blue salmon. The boat was leaving at 6.50am so the plan was to get up at 6.15am and go. I woke up at 6am to hear the wind blowing, that wasnt a concern as it normally drops off as the sun rises. i got up (a little excited) and got ready, Pop was already up eating his toast and drinking coffee. We finished breaky, jumped in the car and as quietly as we could we headed off to the boat ramp. We arrived at the ramp to see our boat circling and ready a raring to go, as we approached what looked like the other fisherman on our charter we heard a strange noise coming from the boat, as we aproached the other blokes they told us one of the motors wont start :-( we stood there and watched him try and try again to get it going but nothing. So the barra will have to wait until another day. On a good note what a nice place Karumba is, we had a beautiful dinner by the sea with Fiona and Pop enjoying fresh gulf seafood and tonight we are doing a sunset cruise and hopefully see some crocs along the way. The fake croc in the photos is a life size replicar of the biggerst croc ever caught. Tomorrow we start heading east again stopping at Mt Surprise to gem fossick and working our way to Cooktown where we might try another charter.
