we got the cape trib bus upto Cape trib, it takes about 4-5 hours in total. the driver that we had was an environmentalist that worked with the RSPA or the Ozzy equiverlant. he was currently looking after an akindna, which is a type of badger/mole. and he basically never shut up all the way up to Cape Trib.
we stopped off for a quick swim in a river that we hhad just passed, it looked quite remote until the Japanese tour bus jumpped off with their cameras. the water was bloody freezing but so rewarding and resfreshing in the end.
next he took us to a little town where we could grab some food before making the long journey upwards towards Cape Trib. we decided to get a salad pot full of potato salad and other pasta dishes. only we didn't have any forks.
we stopped about 1/2 an hour before our resort to have our food, while the posher people sat inside and ate a consdiderable amount of food me and josh sat on the beach and ate our salad, and pasta. we had to improvise with the fork side of things by using a piece of drifwood.
we arrived at our hostel to find quite a nice little resort with swimming pool and small dorms. after being there for about 10 minutes we met a couple of Welsh girls, who we would meet every posssible stop on the way down to Sydney prettymuch. so after we got settles in we waited for something to happen. me and josh signed ourselves up for a night walk. later that day it hit 2pm and the heavens opened as predicted and we got hit by a massive thunderstorm. so what do me, josh and the welsh decide to do? we have a game of volleyball in the pool of course. about 10 minutes into the game a furious barmaid ran out and gave us a right telling off for being in the pool during a thunderstorm, and that its the most dangerous place you can be. so we gladly jumped out and watched the rain for a good hour.
the night walk came and we were told we wern't allowed on the night walk becasue we only had flip flops, this didn't really bother us as we just went into the bar and spent what we would of spent on the walk in the bar. it worked out OK.
the next moring we went on our own walk that took us onto boardwalked path that lead you through the jungle. this was fine apart from we didn't wear any insect repellant and got eaten alive by Mozzies. we started to count how many we had killed and before the day was up we must have accumolated over a hundred.
later that day we were picked up by the bus that had dropped us the previous day and it took us down to the daintree river. where we would do some Croc hunting. after getting caught in another 2pm shower we saw a couple of crocs and their young on the banks. then got back on the bus to head back down to Cairns.
the second driver was no where near as talkative as the first and definatly wasn't as outgoing. he dropped us off back at JayJays for another couple of nights before we headed off for Mission Beach.
