where do i start with Yangzhou, Oh My God, it is the best pace ive been so far, beers cheap lots of activitys and lots of western style bars! perfect!
to get the ball rolling we stayed at a place called fawlty towers! we were hoping to have the sign so we could change the letters around like on the program but we couldnt think of any anagrams!
that morning we took a bamboo raft down the Li river which was really spectacular apart from it was bloody freezing and we spent the whole time trying to keep warm. the views were good apart from some idiot forgot to put the battery back in his camera *cough* Josh *cough*!
later that night we went around afew local stalls browsing and ate at a frequant place called drifters, josh couldn't resist the smell of shepards pie so we ate there. i had a burger and i think they put the whole bloody cow in there! georgous! after eating we went for a game of pool at a bar called bar 98 which was ran by an ozzy! it had cheap beer and free internet! what more could you want! we wobbled home and after i dropped ChanChan from a piggyback she decided to take us around the red light district which she seemed to know way to well!
in the morning with a clear mind we took josh to get his afro cut! (it looks better now jackie) which we forced him into. then went for a walk up to the tv mast which is at the top of a larger tower of mountain! we came down in half the time and headed out to the famous light show.
the light show was produced by the director that did house of the flying daggers and crouching tigers hidden dragon. it was very good to watch apart from it was all in chinese and we couldn't undertand it, but the locals loved it! the cast must of consisted of about 300-400 people and thats no exageration!
the next day was quite fun as we took part in learning Tai Chi, (the flow of energy through the body). we were only taught 6 steps and theres a total of 48 to learn that you have to do in order. it was pretty relaxing to say the least! the Tai Chi master was a little stocky fellow and spoke really quitely and calmly but then he showed us how he used Tai Chi as a form of martial arts. Chuffing hell he was scary after that!
that evening we hired bikes and cycled out to a remote part of yangzhou. the beds and shower were basic but the food was delicious at 50p for meat and egg fried rice. they had a pool table , table tennis, DVD player (we weatch mr bean the holiday). we stayed at this village for two days and i had the same for tea again; egg fried rice with meat!
that night i could'nt sleep as there were a group of wolves which seemed to try and find a lone wolf. they would all howl at once and then the solitary wolf would howl back, this continued for about 1hr and i couldn't sleep because i got re awoken by some thing that sounded like a dying monkey! overall it was a very weird night!
after my dreadful sleep we got back on the bikes and went to moon hill, its just a huge rock with a massive arch on top ( very popular with climbers).
the next morning we went to the rice terraces where we would stay for 2 nights. too be honest it was pretty boring on the terraces. the scenery was lovely but there was nothing to do. we must have been about 1000 meters up and it was cold and rainy! we went for a walk that was supposed to take 4hour but we managed it in two and a half! go us!
then the next morning were heading out to Hong Kong ( back into our colonial homeland!)
