we crossed the border into Hong Kong at about 0900 hours and they gladly let us back into our colonial ruled homeland. but ChanChan being a foreigner slowed us down slightly! we got a taxi which took us too our hotel which was a YMCA, a big posh YMCA! we had porters and door opener people! brilliant!
We headed off in search for Josh's headphones as they'd be the cheapest than anywhere we go to. after browsing in numerous shops we eventually found some cheap, good ones. (i just realised how boring that sounds)!
we then decided to go to HK island where we rid on the worlds largest esculator that goes right up the side of the hill. it was actually quite hard to find! when we got to the top we forced ChanChan to run down it backwards while we filmed it.(she got given some right evil looks!) after all that we were bloody starving so we went in search of local cuisine. which came in the form of raw chicken curry! needless to say we didn't eat the amazingly pink parts just the bits that looked kind of cooked, and a potato! other than that the sauce was astounding!
as it was ChanChan's last day we stayed up quite late while she showed us round. we went to the water front and basically walked around the whole of HK island before we got back.
the next morning we woke up at about 1000 hours and made our way to HK island again so this time we could see it in the day. we walked around for a while and eventually found our way to an indian ran shopping centre where we had our second curry which was amazing ( not as nice as Momtaz and Everest though!) it was quite expensive but all of bloody HK is!
after the curry we left ChanChan on the subway and headed off to Victoria peak. we walked around a couple of roads following the odd signuntil we stumbled across a sign that said 'Upper Albert Road'! WOW! shortly after we found what we were looking for, the Peak Tram. this was a bizarre experiance, the tram went pretty much vertical. it looked like alot of the buildings were built at an angle or were about to fall over! it really messed up my mind! the views from the top were not amazing but dont get me wrong they were good. it was far too touristy up there and the best views we could get were next to a McDonalds (dont worry the smell didn't tempt us in!)
after coming down again we found somewhere else to eat which was a small family owned resteraunt, where i had my third curry in a row!
we headed back to the YMCA to collect our bags and catch a public bus to the airport. this was to save money on accomodation and so we didn't have to wake up at stupid - o'clock. we arrived at about 1130 and our check in was at 0900 the next day!
great fun! bring on NAM!
