I arrived to New Delhi from Helsinki the 9th of October. The plane was almost fully booked, and a lot of Indian families. There were these children who wanted to be seated together so they asked me if I would like to change a seat with one of them who was sitting in the business class! So of course I changed my seat, there were much more space and my own private TV...The seat made a bed also and I could have a massage with the seat also!I just pushed a button and my seat was a bed or I had a massage! What a way to start my holiday!
When I arrived to the airport of Delhi, I had to queue for the immigration to have my visa checked. There were so many people everywhere! Then I went to pick up my bag, it was almost the first one to arrive! Then I just hoped that David would wate me outside! And of course he did! We went straight to the hotel where David was staying. The hotel is situated in New Delhi, Pahar Ganj area. It's really a backpackers place. When we arrived at the hotel, David warned me that it's not a good room, that we can change it. I entered the room, and there weas no bed, just a mattress and there were so many bugs that we canged the room right away! The room we got is ok, for 400 INR, we have a bed, and a bathroom with shower and WC, which doesn't work...but anyway it was the best we found!Every morning we go to this cafe/restaurant where are the best banana pancakes ever! And David had invented a new way of eating eggs: honey and eggs on a toast!really good! FOr lunch and dinner we eat in the indian restaurants. The food is actually really good, even though it's really spicy! I love the garlic naan (bread)!David had some problems with his stomach yesterday but now he's better. I'm just waiting for my turn...
Before I arrived to Delhi, David met this boy who lived in the street. He waxes shoes and actually repairs anything. David's shoes were broken and he fixed them...So this boy, his name is Nikki, (don't know how to write his name), have explained a lot for us about India, Delhi or his life... We have offered him a dinner and some beers couple of times. We understand that maybe this is also his way of getting free food but he is really nice and he talks a lot, so we don't mind.at least he has his stomach full!Yesterday, we were in the Old Delhi, and visited some temples. We went to this Sikh temple, where before enter the temple, we had to leave our shoes and also all that are forbidden like cigarettes or alchool. We entered the temple by this water basin full of holy water. When I stepped in it, I just wished that I don't get any diseases or fungus... We also had to cover our heads with a head scarf. Inside, there were 2 preasts praying and the people sitting and listening. It was really big temple. We went to one other building where people could get free food and sleep for free also. They take tourists there also. We visited also the Red Fort, a big fort build by the monghols. We didn't go in cause it was kind of expensive.Today we try to book a flight to the North of India to Kashmir. First I did't want to go there because it's not the safest place to go, but everybody says that there isn't any problems for the tourists. So we'll see. Tonight we are going to watch an indian movie. It takes like 3 hours. Bisous! Julia
