Hello again everybody!!!
I am back i Lima now, finally, but I will tell you all about the journey later!!
Well, Since I last updated, whilst I was in Cusco (Cusco is the place that used to be the Capitol of the Inka Empire, thats why we have been there, and to get to Machu Picchu!) we have had drama!
Its all because, at the place we were staying, there were also about a bizilion Peruvian schoolkids there, too, who kept on making a massive racket, banging on our walls and ringing the room to annoy us, with no teachers in sight. So, we kept on complaining to the management, who were approximately as useful as a chocolate teapot in a heatwave, and didnt do anything. So, when the kid next door started banging on the wall when Love Actually was on the TV (a personal fave) all hell broke loose.
Paul, suddenly back in touch with his "Manchester heritage" shall I say, lost the plot a little, and started rampaging down to reception to speak to the manager, who conveniently wasnt there, and started "discussing the issue" with the night staff. After breking through the language barrier for about 2 hours, they finally decided to get all the kids out of their rooms and into the foyer for a right rollocking, which was rather amusing, as all the kids were looking up at the balcony trying to stare me out and give me evils, and some of them even walked up to my level and stared at me from the end of that, too.OOoohhhh.Im really scared.Not. Stupid kids.
Anyway, we than had a visit from one of there teachers who had miraculously materialised now that it was all kicking off, who only spoke Spanish, which was interesting, but we got the general gist that he was making a grovelling apology.lol.
To be honest, despite the initial amusement, I was actually just pissed off at missing Love Actually!!!!hahaha.
Anyway, more on that later...it will all comr together at the end!
So, on our last day in Cusco, we arranged to take a Horse Ride around some of the local Inka ruins, and set off early in the morning to get there. We were going to ride through the Peruvian countryside to get some good scenery. Baring in mind that the last time I rode a horse was.....erm...1998, at PGL, I considerred myself a total novice, and the guy said that he would give me a dosile Horse "that I would be great friends with" by the end of the day.
Hmmmmm. Well, my "dosile Horse", "Antasi" turned out to be a raving lunatic, aguaholic mentalist!!!I bet that guy saw mw coming, and thought, "this will be amusing!" He wouldnt do anything that I tried to make it do, and at every sniff of water, would totally disregard the track, and gallop off with me holding on for dear life on his back. Friends we were definately not.
When we had been to the ruins, and had some time off of the Horse (praise the Lord!) we had to take the main road back down the hill, into the village again, which I was a bit apprehensive about, anyway, but the final straw came when a big Lorry went past and Antasi "the dosile" started frieking out, and rearing up, nearly sending me flying off into the middle of the road.(Did I mention that we didnt have any helmets on, either?) So, I changed Horses with Paul, who had a much nicer, calmer, less eratic one!
It was a good experience, though. A bit like a Peruvian Fear Factor, lol. And it was worth it to see some of the beautidul scenery, though I must admit that I did spend most of the time looking at the Horses feet trying to guess what the heck it was gonna do next, and concentrating on holding on for dear life, which meant that I didnt get the most out of the scenery, unfortunately!
So, we went back to the Hotel to shower off the Horsey odours before we got on the bus, and went to check out.
There must have been some confusion between Mum and the Manager there about what the fee was, because when Mum was complaining about the noise of the kids, the manager had said, "3 nights for 40 soles" which Mum thought meant "40 soles in total for the 3 nights", due to the ambiguity of the statement, but actually meant "40 soles, instead of 46 soles for each of the 3 nights."
Argh. Not good. When Mum went to pay, she was like, WHAT? And refused to pay it, and demanded that the manager phoned the owner to rectify the situation. Mum insisted that she was not paying for that ridiculuos miniscule discount, and said that her final offer was to pay for 3 nights, out of 5, and that was it.
Anyway, I have to go now, for some reason, mum is ushering me away from this computer, so Ill update again later!
Love yall XXXXX
