Saturday was a long dull day of driving mostly across across Missouri. We ended up just outside of Kansas City. The most interesting thing to say about the drive is that we saw license plates from over thirty different states, big whoop right? We also ended up in miles of traffic, persons going to the Missouri football game. It made for tough driving.
We did stop in a small state park for lunch and a short hike. It was quite warm and humid and we were accompanied part way by a horde of dive bombing gnats (thankfully non biting). Thank goodness we were alone since we looked like we had some spastic disease as we swatted and waved non stop.
We stayed in a hotel Saturday night and got some laundry done so we will be clean for the next part of the trip.
As you will note from the picture, there hasn't been much scenery on this part of the trip, just acres and acres of corn and soy beans. From what we've seen, the U.S. Is good for tofu and soy milk for the forseeable future. However, this is not the place to try and make a living as a procurement forester.
We are on our way to a Nebraska state park for the night. We want to post this while we have wifi so I'll end now. Tomorrow we finally get to South Dakota and the actually vacation gets started.

Christine Delaney Gee, you make it sound so inviting! Brian can hardly wait to visit Missouri. If you can get to Pipestone national park in South Dakota (on the Minnesota border) it is well worth the visit. This is where Native Americans still get the clay (pipestone) for their pipes.
Vi The Corn Palace is so different from what we saw so you must be right about them changing themes.
