Spent a very hot weekend with Julie T in Port Macquarie. We arrived after a 6 hour bus journey from Sydney at lunch time friday, shattered as was up at 5! Jul's picked us up in her lunch break and took us back to her flat fop a couple of hours sleep! We met her in the beach house pub after work for drinks , although she was there for an hour on her tod waiting for us with a bottle of wine on her own! Oooopps! sorry Jul's. with her work friends! We had a fun fun night and the best pizza! Prawn, sesame seeds and satay sauce - sounds gross i know but it was actually the best pizza ever, iv been talking about it and thinking about it ever since! So if you have never had a reason to visit Port Macquarie, you have now...... believe mw you will love it. We ending the night in the local pun having a little dance, celebrating the fact that 'the mums' had just booked their flights to NYC ! woo hoo, so excited to see mummy. I think she's just coming out to make sure i actually do make it home and do not fly straight back here to oz.
We pottered about on the Sat, went to another vineyard and country show - which we turned up at when it had closed but we still managed to get in free and also purchase cut price samosas, fairy cakes and tea. Jul's knows how to treat the Essex girls.........In the evening we took a sunset cruise along the river, which included fish and chips and BYO wine, with Julie, Scott and Steve. We were very lucky and managed to see Dolphins to, but i wasn't quick enough to gt a snap.
On the Sunday we took a trip south along the coast stopping at the beaches for views. We stopped at Dunbogan ( Yes, that is what the town is called!). Julie has friends, (Sue and James) here who she had arranged for us to visit and have a BBQ (Jul's spinach and pumpkin salad went down a treat) on the beach and 4x4 drive along the beach. They have two adorable children Jodie 6 and Robbie 4. They was great fun, even shy little Rob came out of his shell for us on our first visit which we were told is SOMETHING! Jordie is going to be my new pen pal and write to me when im home, now you have to say Bless to that right jojo? We played in the Sea after BBQ and later James took Anna and I up to Big Brother, which is a mountain from where you get the most amazing views. Of course Jordie and Robbie weren't letting us go alone and had to a company us, so Jordie had to share a seat belt with the vixter which she thought was great! Kids are the funniest things along with animals. On the way back he took us off roading along the beach and up and down big bumpy verges. It was a lot of fun, i thought at times the kids were going to cry but i think that was just me! They absolutely loved it. That night the rain came! and boy did it come! Torrential downpour all night long and it continued the whole of the next day - which was fine as this was when we were scheduled to get the lunchtime bus to Byron Bay...........
I'm glad that Jul's works and plays down here in Port Macquarie as we probably wouldn't have visited this gorgeous town if not. Its a cut retirement town with a relaxed vibe. Perfect place to come for a weekend to chill out and have a couple of slices ( i'm my case couple of whole) of the best pizza in the world! I know its a big call to make but that's what it is, so i'm just putting it out there for you. Prawn satay with sesame seed pizza rocks! You will not taste better. So well done Juls for a fab weekend i will remember for a long time - It rocked as do you, thanks for everything xxx
