Robbie Burns Day!
Yes Slater did think about cracking open the 12 year Glenfiddich at 8.30am for a dram since it was Burns day, but we all declined! Plus the two of them had to catch a flight down to Perth this morning. It was very amusing watching the two of them get ready for their flight and attempt to pack their bags! Marks attempt was pretty good and managed to get his bag closed first time, Slater however did not. I gave up watching him and packed his bag for him in the end and everything fitted in with quite a bit of room to spare. Mind you I was worried at how little clothes he actually had with him hehe.
Colin was working today, so he had left before the rest of us were awake. We all left at the same time, the boys got a taxi to the airport and I headed to a local cafe for breakfast (Museli, yoghurt and fruit again... I'm addicted) and Nicole came and picked me up from there. I fair enjoyed spending some time with Nicole herself and getting a proper news. The two of us went to Claremont suburb to get some alcohol and food for our road trip down south, before heading back to Phoebes.
It was about lunch time I got back to Phoebes and packed a bag for the next few nights as the three of us were heading to Phoebes family bush house for Australia Day. I had bought lots of Australian things when I was shopping with the boys yesterday, like big and little flags, blow up auzzie hand, auzzie tiaras etc to take with us to the beach tomorrow. Phoebe was not impressed at all, and called me a bogan for getting all these things, but I was super excited and so was Nicole.
I spent the early afternoon, searching for somewhere to stay in Singapore and found a flash packers :) in the Clarke Quay where Jason had recommended to stay. I felt much happier knowing I had that booked and got my Vietnam visa paperwork all printed out so hopefully everything will go smoothly.
It was late afternoon before we headed off on our road trip. Nicole offered to take her car, as Phoebe had a long drive, like 11 hours, to Wiluna on Saturday. It took us a while to get out of the city as the traffic was really bad but once we were on the road it was about 3 hours to get down to Dunsborough. The place we were staying was just a bit north from Margaret River, which is a popular beachside resort. Dunsborough was also on the coast, and was a small holiday village.
We headed into the village first, to get something for our tea. It was about 8pm by the time we were there and I hadn't had anything since my museli in the morning but because of the heat, I wasn't very hungry. We ordered a Thai take away to take to the bush house, and we didn't have to wait very long which was good.
The bush house was a good 10 minutes from the village, inland. It literally was in the middle of the bush, I felt like I was back in Africa in the middle of nowhere surrounded by wildlife. It was a lovely wooden house that had rough tracks in order to reach it. There were no kangaroos to spot when we arrived which was annoying, apparently at dusk they are everywhere. The house had no air conditioning so it was pretty hot when we arrived.
We had our take away and then watched a film, The Prince and Me. Nicole and I had a cider but we had to have the fan blowing continually while we watched the film. It was a lovely chilled evening, we all slept downstairs as it was far too hot in the bedrooms upstairs.
Really looking forward to our busy Australian Day tomorrow :) xxx
