Well I wanted to have a long lie this morning and surprisingly I managed to get it. Lauren and I both slept till 11am :) Day 4 of not feeling well is starting to take its toll. It was another night of a broken sleep but when I did manage to sleep I was soundo!!! When I got up, I felt really weak, shaky and still felt exhausted. We had to be checked out of our hotel by 12pm so we got our stuff packed up and took our bags down to reception.
Lauren felt the exact same, we were both white and shaking like a leaf. We went and met Nikki and got a tuk tuk back to the Night Bazaar area so get some western style food to try and get some energy into us. Our options were Burger King, McDonalds, Subway or Pizza Hut, we opted for McDonalds. Not sure if this was the best idea but at least I knew what I was eating. I wasn't well at all by this stage and forced myself to eat because I was shaking so much, even had a bit of a cry I was feeling so awful. I decided to start taking the metronidazole, as I had figured it really couldn't make me any worse than I already am. After I had literally forced down some food I felt so weak all I wanted to do was lie down on the floor and sleep. Anyways I kept going as Lauren needed to go to the chemist and I had found a Boots last night so we went there to get baby wipes etc for the trek.
The three of us had a wonder around the shops, as I felt better if we just kept going and didn't stop. I bought a Mulberry purse and a ring which I'm really chuffed with. It was a little 'cheer me up present' to myself. The group were all getting the train down to Bangkok tonight and they were meeting at the hotel at 3.30pm to go and get their overnight train so we wanted to be back there in time to say bye to everyone. We got a tuk tuk back and said our goodbyes, Lauren and I also had to sign another form to officially sign ourselves off from Charles's trip as we were meant to be with the group for another 2 nights.
It was sad saying bye to everyone as it was a lovely small group, but everyone wrote a story in my wee travel book. We are hoping to catch up with Nikki, James and Liz on Saturday afternoon in Bangkok though. Lauren and I then piled our backpacks and us into a small tuk tuk to take us across the city to the Mandala House Hotel where we were starting our Hilktribe Trek tour from. When we arrived the girl behind the reception didn't have a clue what was going on, but eventually we were given a room each and told to be at the reception at 6pm for our welcome meeting.
My plan was to have an hours sleep but this didn't happen as I decided it would be better to catch up on my blog before I hit the jungle for the next 3 days! It's going to be a fun 3 days in the jungle with a tummy like this and no toilets.... I am nervous needless to say and no idea how I'm going to be able to do 5 hour hikes with no energy!!! Arrrgggghhhhh. Mum and Dad texted me to say that was them in Bangkok, it is totally crazy that we are all in Thailand at the same time but 700km apart.
Our 6pm meeting wasn't like any other Gap meeting, it was very quick and no paper work was filled out! We have 8 in our group at the moment, a couple from England, two girls from Canada and another couple but this time Lauren and I look the youngest compared to being the oldest in our last group. We were all told what we needed to bring and told to be ready for 9am tomorrow morning so it's not a too early start.
I definitely wasn't right this evening, tummy cramps were back and I could hardly leave the room I was so weak. I texted Little Miss Cuz for some pharmacy advice and she was an absolute star and got back to me straight away after speaking to two of her GP friends. They all recommended ditching the metronidazole and starting ciprofloxacin, but Lisa was saying how a lot of these Middle East diseases are all resistant to antibiotics but this one was the best to try.
Lauren and I went out to get a few things that we needed for the next couple of days... toilet roll was at the top of the list haha and a supply to last us for the next 3 days :) Do you think 4 rolls will be enough? hehe. Let's hope so or I'll be in a pickle. We went to subway for something to eat as all we wanted was something that we knew what we were eating. I wasn't hungry at all but again I forced it down. Lauren got a few things and we headed back to the hotel. I was just so tired and sore, but I needed to pack my small rucksack for the next couple of days. It didn't take long and then I sorted out my Internet banking etc before hitting the sack.
It's quite nice to have our own rooms when we're both feeling rubbish. There is mosquitos everywhere though, let's hope I've not been eaten alive by the morning :) Super delighted Lisa was able to help me tonight and hope that does the trick but if not I'll be on a water only diet until my tummy behaves itself :)
Roll on the 3 day trek, elephant riding and bamboo rafting.... I WILL FEEL BETTER :) xxx
