Dear all, We are now back in Chiang Mai, after another epic 4 hour bus journey, this time complete with babies crying as well - grrrr! Anyway - we got here safe and sound and near enough in one piece! The big group that we went to Kanchanaburi with last week had got here before us and booked us all into a guest house - so all the hard work of trying to find accommodation in a city that is packed for New Year had all been done for us - yay! They're all on a trek at the moment so we haven't seen them yet but I think they're getting back tonight so there will be a drink or two tonight, I'm sure! We had a chill out night last night and didn't make it any further than 7-11 - it's amazing how doing nothing more strenuous than sitting on your bum for hours on end can make you sooooo tired! We went to bed early in the hope of getting a good night's sleep but the Swedish people in the room next door seemed to have other ideas. They were talking soooo loudly and that, combined with the fact that my bed seemed to be made merely of wooden planks, the room was filled with mozzies and was the temperature of a glass house, did not make for a good night's sleep at all! Anyway! We've just been to Doi Suthep - another temple but this time on the top of a mountain. It would have been beautiful had it not been for the 30,000 Japanese tourists that pulled up in their buses just as we arrived! Needless to say we didn't stay long! Just about to go home and have a shower before watching a film I think. For those of you I haven't told already, I'm not coming home when I said I would. I'm going to stay at least another month, because I am having, quite literally, (although it sounds cheesy!) the "time of my life" and I don't want it to end! I have seen and done so much in the last few weeks than I would ever have thought possible - but I still feel as though there's more for me out there! Still need to sort out my flights and stuff but all the travel agencies are closed because of New Year so will have to wait until next weekend to get everything settled.
