Hello everyone, I hope that this postcard finds you all well - what's the weather like now?! All is fine and dandy here - we're now in Pai (pronounced "pie") and having a chill out day before heading back to Chiang Mai. We spent the last 2 nights in Mae Hong Son - a horrific 8 hour bus journey north of Chiang Mai. Words cannot express how awful the journey actually was - imagine being crammed into a tiny tiny space, surrounded by boxes, chickens and Thai people eating all manner of offensive smelling food, driving round and round the mountains in a crappy old bus! Then multiply the noise, smell and uncomfortableness (if that's a word!) by about a million - then you'll be getting close! Despite all that, we arrived safely and found a nice guest house to stay in. There wasn't really much to do in Mae Hong Son if you didn't want to trek (which we are going to do later on in Nan) so we just chilled out and went to the market and lazed around the beautiful lake. So, having done half of the same journey back to Pai we thought we'd treat ourselves to a nice room for once, seeing as there is very little to spend your money on here! We're staying a gorgeous place, with hot water and a really comfy bed - you have to have little treats now and again - and it's sooooo nice to be properly clean for once! Going to love you and leave you now - the lure of that lovely comfy bed is proving too strong - even if I do have to share it with the others! Love to you all! Vicky xxx
