We were staying at Vic falls for 3 nights so me and Sarah upgraded to a twin room instead of our tent. That meant we had our own bathroom, a plug and room to sort our backpacks out. The room also had air conditioning and a fan, Oh the luxuary!! After we put our stuff in our room we had a presentation of what activites we could do. I chose to just do a flying fox jump, I didnt do the zip line as ive ziplined before and I didnt want to do the gorge swing as I didnt really know what it was and I like to know what im letting myself in for. Other people were doing all three things and a few more doing a bungy jump instead. So the next morning we got picked up and driven to the gorge at Vic Falls. We got into our harnesses which were really uncomfortable and hard to walk in. For the flying fox jump your harness was attached to the wire from your back. You had to stand on a wooden platform that extended out over the edge of a cliff. When the man counted down 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 you had to run along the platform and jump off the edge. You would then go flying across the gorge in the style of superman!! The faster you ran the faster you flew. As the other side of the gorge was Zambia we had to turn around and hold on to a rope so the man could pull us back to the platform. When everyone had done the flying fox jump I could take my harness off and the others moved on to the zip line. I was then chief photographer for everyone. The zip line was really long and really really fast, much better than the ziplining I had done before, so I wished I had done the zip lining. Next they did the gorge swing. It was similar to a bungy in the sense that you had to jump off a platform and drop a very long way but different because you are in a harness and attached at the waist. After the drop they swing out over the river and back. Im not too sure if I would do this, I'd definitely prefer it to a bungy but im not convinced!
In the afternoon we walked around the town which is in the middle of a national park so it was quite funny to see warthogs walking down the street! We treated ourselves to an icecream and had a look in a posh hotel. In the evening a group of singers came to the campsite to entertain us whilst we had our dinner.
The next morning we went to watch the bungy jumpers and cheer them on before going to see the actual falls. We hired ponchos to keep us dry and walked around the park. We were opposite the falls and were getting soaked from the spray, it was like it was raining. We walked from one side of the falls to the other. In the evening we had a group meal in a restaurant as it was some peoples last day on the truck. We had curried warthog which i wasnt too keen on but also had chicken and butternut squash.
In the morning we loaded our things onto a new truck called Pumba, this truck had proper windows!! We said hello to three new people, Andy, Pascale and Heather and goodbye to Shaggy, the driver Issacc and six travelers, Kerrie, Chantelle, Bex, Alice, Lu and Chris. After a last group picture we set off ready to cross into Botswana.
