Days 22-28:
Leaving the lakeshore we headed to Lilongwe, the capital of Malawi before going to our cmp in South Luangwa National park in Zambia. After that we travelled west to Lusaka the modern capital of Zambia where we reconnected with the wider world by having a Nandos for lunch and stocked up on supplies before heading to Zimbabwe.
We crossed the border into Zimbabwe. We were going on a houseboat for two nights and it didnt take us long to get there as it was close to the border. The boat had all our cabins on the bottom deck and the top deck was the dinning and lounge area with a sun deck as well. We set sail on Lake Kariba which wasnt very rocky as there werent really any waves as it was a lake. The cabins were quite nice, we had two single beds right next to each other and a mosquito net that covered both of them. The side of the cabin was open so we had a lake view with just a rail. We also had our own ensuite which also didnt have a proper side so it was quite funny to sit on the loo and look out onto the lake, if another ship went past it would see everything!! After a while we stopped at an island where we docked for the night. Then the bit we had been looking forward to most, DINNER, it was the first time we had an oven and we were having chicken pie, it was yummy!! The next day we had another treat of a full english breakfast before we set sail again. We cruised around the Lake whilst sunbathing on the top deck. When we got to the middle of the lake we stopped and were allowed to swim in the lake as you cant swim near the edge because of crocodiles. Apparently in the middle it is too deep for the crocodiles to go but I didnt risk it I stayed on the boat and carried on sunbathing. Then we sailed toanother island and docked again. On the island there was an elephant really close and we were allowed to get off the boat and walk a bit closer. We then got onn a smaller boat and had a game cruise around the islands, we saw elephants, hippos and crocodiles. When we got back to the boat dinner was ready and tonight it was a roast beef dinner, delicious and we had desert as well which was apple crumble. That evening we had a punch party and played a few games!!!!! The next mornihng we had another yummy breakfast and headed back to shore to camp for the nightl.
