We arrived in Namibia and for the first two nights we just had drive days and stayed at campsites. The first one was rainbow camp on the bank of a river which had a sign saying beware of the crocodiles!! The next night was a farm which had orange and lemon trees all over and unfortunatly for Sarah had chickens wondering around!! On the third day we had a short drive to Etosha national park, it was also Andy's 21st Birthday. We drove through the park to get to our campsite seeing lots of animals on the way. We set up our tents and had an hour for lunch before setting off for an afternoon game drive. We saw lots of giraffes and antelopes but the best sighting was a black rhino quite close to the road but still a distance away. In the evening we had oryx steak which is a type of antelope and it was really yummy.
The next morning we went on a game drive again and we saw some lions, two male lions sitting down but when we pulled up one of them stood up and started to walk towards us and crossed right in front of our truck and then the other lion stood up and crossed infront of us to follow the other one. I got some really nice photos. We went a bit further and saw a lioness sat under a tree with some cubs but they were hidden quite well so we didnt stay too long. Then we got the best sighting ever it was of a cheetah at the side of the road and all of a sudden it started to run across the road in front of us. We were pleased we had seen a cheetah running but then we realised it was chasing a little dik dik (a small antelope) and then another one appeared from nowhere and helped in the chase. We dont know if it caught it as they disappeared into the long grass but we did hear a little squeal so maybe we saw our first live kill!! We stopped off at a campsite for lunch and there we met our friend Jacob. Jacob was a little squirrel we called him Jacob because i fed him some of my cream crackers. He got very brave and would eat out of our hands. In the afternoon we went on another game drive to go to the campsite we were sleeping at. At night we went to sit by a water hole hoping some animals would come and drink there but nothing came so after an hour we gave up and went to bed.
The next day we got up quite early and had a game drive out of the park and once again saw lions lazing around at the side of the road. We made our way to a Cheetah farm. At the farm they had three tame cheetahs that we could stroke and we watched them feed on zebra meat. After that he took us out into the large enclosure where there were some wilder cheetahs. He rescues them from other local farms and looks after them. There were about 10 cheetahs that came around the car. The man then threw pieces of meat to the cheetahs one at a time and the cheetahs would jump up to get them. It was my turn to cook again and we had steak.
The next morning we visited a Himba tribe. The himba tribe are a traditional Namibian tribe and they showed us around their village. The women dont wear anything on the top half and have animal skin wrapped around there waist. After that we went to the skeleton coast where we spent the night in a tent on the beach. It was freezing cold and of course there were no toilets so we had to beach pee!!
