After leaving Estancia we had a very scenic drive up into the mountains and it was to be our first night in a tent. As we had gone up into the mountains it was quite cold when we arrived. We set up our tent which was almost the same as the ones in Africa but slightly thinner. It was Sarahs turn to cook the evening meal so they got busy preparing carbonara for us while we all huddled around a camp fire for warmth. Dinner was very nice and soon afterwards we all headed to bed in our attempt to be warm. It didnt work I have never been so cold in all my life. I had six layers on, a wooly hat and in my sleeping bag BUT was still cold... no not cold FREEZING!! I didnt get much sleep that night as I was so cold, neither did Sarah as every so often one of us would say, are you asleep and the other one would always answer. We were layed waiting for the alarm to go, I have never been so happy to get up. After breakfast which my team cooked we got back in the truck and set off to Cafeyate.

We arrived in the afternoon and went to a local pub and sat by the fire. We had a pizza for dinner and then back to the campsite for the second night in a tent!! As we had come down from the mountains is wasnt as cold as the night before but I wouldnt say it was warm either. In the morning we were wine tasting so we set off on our tour. We visited two wineries as the 3rd one was closed. Everyone bought bottles of wine. We had lunch in a local cafe before setting off for Salta.

We arrived in Salta and went to a restaurant where you can get the best steak in the world. I have to say it was very nice so they werent lying. The following two days in Salta we shopped for warm clothes as Claire the guide had told us Chile was indeed going to be very chilly!! There was a nice square with statues and fountains with all the shops and restaurants close by. We found an Irish pub where we ate on several occassions and drank them out of several spirits including me - i drank them out of Malibu!! This is where we also adopted Wally the troll .. soon to be appearing in lots of photos!
