Hello!
I'm in South Africa now, right next to Kruger park. I started at the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre yesterday, which mainly breeds cheetah for release back to the wild. As soon as we got there one of the painted dogs needed darting for surgery on a wound. We got to help transport it, and then I got to hold it during surgery! It was a pretty fantastic start!
Today we had a tour round - there's about 60 cheetahs, including some king cheetah, servils, lions (including a 6 week old cub!), caracals, a tiger, zebra, antelope and the painted dogs. Can't wait to get stuck in!
They also have a ground hornbill which dislikes certain people - what's the odds it's going to hate me! It looks like Pan too!
We finish here on the 9th June, then a week in Cape Town, and fly back on 17th June. Would be lovely to go out for a meal when I get back, can't wait to catch up with everything that's been happening! I'm jealous of missing out on the fox cubs!
Hope you're all well and thank you for my text!
Lots of love,
Vicky xxx
