Rock 'n' Ropes!
Today we drove to Lake Taupo, which is absolutely beautiful. The water is as blue as the sea in Fiji, and the waterfall is breathtaking. We split up a bit in the morning, as Lisa and I did something different to Daniela, who went on a jet boat around the lake. We chose to do Rock 'n' Ropes, which is a climbing and heights activity, and was very scary, but amazing. The first climb we did was up a 30 feet pole to a balance beam, which we had to walk across, and then walk backwards, before we were lowered to the ground. The next challenge was to jump from a 40 feet pole to a trapeze, which I did twice, and caught, but didn't have the strength to hold onto! We also walked across a rope at the same height as the balance beam, but that seemed easy after the first two, as we had another rope to hold onto! The final thing I did was to climb up a 50 feet pole to a cage at the top, and then jump off it so that I freefell until I reached the end of the rope, and then just swung like a pendulum. It was such a good morning, but my arms are in agony now!
In the afternoon we had a walk around the town, and then went to our hotel, where we attempted to go in our private spa pool, but it was too hot! We managed about five minutes in it, which wasn't really enough to help my aching muscles! Tonight we went on a boat cruise around Lake Taupo, and everyone had a few drinks and a dance after dinner. The views from the boat of the lake were really nice, and we also saw a Maori sculpture carved in the side of a mountain. We finished the night off in a bar once we got to dry land, and had a bit too much to drink considering we had to get up the next day at 6.30am!
