This morning we actually treated ourselves to a breakfast - we have been having mainly just one main meal a day (losing weight!) Yogi (our driver) was ready and waiting for us with his usual morning greeting "good sleeping at night" - he doesnt believe we are sleeping as we keep falling to sleep in the car...The drive was good - started to leave the desert landscape behind. Yogi pulled over as there was a religous stopping point along the way where an old man was burning flowers on a fire - Yogi joined him and came back to the car with a handful of a sweet mixture - tasted a bit like syrup. We stopped along the way at a Jain temple - much larger than one we had seen previously - they are quite stunning with amazing carvings- a 'holy man' insisted on putting a yellow dot on my forehead. When we returned to the car Yogi pointed out a family of monkeys in the tree above us - they were so much bigger than id thought! First time ive seen monkeys out of the zoo so was quite amazing. We started to see alot more on the drive as we where doing through forest hills - Yogi stopped at one point and held fruit out of the car window - 5 monkeys launched themselves at us - very funny! Yogi was enjoying himself on this ride i think - he kept pulling over to show us flowers and berries and fish and anything he could see = "look mount" - his english is not great! It was a beautiful climb up the mountains tho so i dont blame him! After 8 hours drive we arrived in Udaipur - i think straight away we both felt it was a nice place - there is a massive lake - which is beautiful but also in parts covered with green slime. The city itself is very pretty and our hotel is right on the lake and near the markets so we are staying here a few days and will have that time to ourselves (first time we will of so far) so we are looking forward to that!
