We spent our one and only day in Washington, D.C. today, and our first day of rain!

We explored the city and got the metro to the White House. If anything, It was slightly underwhelming in the rain! The city was also very quiet, I don't know if this is the norm, or whether it's because of the dreadful shootings which took places earlier this morning which deterred people.
We took a walk along the national mall, passing the Washington monument and into many of the Smithsonian museums. They were all really interesting, however I particularly enjoyed the natural history museum.

We spent the rest of the day wandering the city as the sun had came out and went to a Chinese restaurant for dinner... Just what we needed.

I am currently sitting in the common room of our first hostel; 'Downtown Washington hostel' dreading my alarm going off at 5am for our next flight of our trip to LA! Xxx
