Well, its been a couple of weeks since i last updated you all, so will do it in stages as there is soooo much to tell you!
I started my Trek America tour across the states on the 16th and left NY way too early in the morning for my liking. Were a group of 9 people from all over the place, a couple of irish, an ozzie, a girl from columbia and a few Koreans and so far were getting on great..watch this space tho! lol. The trip to Washington was a good old drive and not much to write about to be honest. The campground was pretty cool and we experienced our first outdoor cooked meal! looks like im going to be roughing it for a few weeks........
We headed out to an illuminated tour of Washington at night and saw the Lincoln Memorial, Capitol Hill, the White House and a variety of other of the monuments all lit up - the plan is to have a day sightseeing the next day so it was pretty much a whistle stop tour.
Our second day we spent exploring the Smithsonian Museums and looking at the main 'touristy' stuff such as the white house and the Lincoln memorial. We were all a little hungover that day after a night drinking around the campfire so we took it easy and had lunch in the park before heading back to camp. DC is pretty much like any other city really - so one day was more than enough! That night we headed back to camp and i didnt drink!
we had a long drive the next day to get to Tennessee - but we passed through Virginia along the way where we saw a whole load of houses with all the Halloween stuff up - they make a HUGE deal out of Halloween over here so it was great looking at all the houses. Im spending halloween in Vegas so watch this space! Ok so were now onto day 3 and driving to Bristol in Tennessee - another long drive. Seriously, it looks such a short space on a map but it takes forever! the good thing about the bus is that we stop at little places along the way for pit stops and get to see all the little towns. the scenery isnt much to write about as its pretty much flat all the way. The weather is pretty non descript too - its cold at night and cool in the day, which doesnt really work when ur camping! im layering up every night just to keep warm. thats pretty much it for these few days so i will leave it there! xxxxx
