NEW YORK DAY 1:
Well, i finally made it. Im here, in New York City with their unbelievably expensive internet and dodgy air con! And before i launch into my day in NY i have to say that my flight over here was fantastic, very nearly topping the moment a few years ago that i was going to be flying in an Air New Zealand plane with a great big picture of Legolas and Aragorn on it. Now that was exciting. But seriously BA was fantastic - the food was great, movies were on demand - i sat through Evan Almighty and Fantastic 4 Silver Surfer with a few episodes of Ugly Betty and Prison Break thrown in, loads of wine........and was totally comatosed for the last hour and a half. I did wonder why the man at immigration was looking at me funny......
Anyway had a very busy day of walking, walking and more walking! i totally didnt realise how large Manhattan is and decided to walk from Central Park (where i was totally pretentous and sat reading my book with a starbucks watching the joggers) all the way to Battery Park (which is the southern most tip of the island) it took me TWO HOURS! i was bloody knackered. Still am actually. Although its amazing how many different types of people there were dotted around the different suburbs - the arty farty lot in TriBeca, the dodgy looking in soho, the tourists in Times square... ....although it was in Central Park i had the strangest experience, i was sitting there reading my book when i heard this huge 'crunch crunch' on the gravel and a mans voice screaming 'work those butts work those butts' - i looked up thinking of some kind of organised jogathon but no. I saw a herd, no it was more like a stampede of mums with buggies. I was in shock. I mean, dog walking fair enough, jogging totally acceptable but pushing a babies buggy (with the baby in it!) whilst lunging and running - my god i couldnt believe it. i sat there mouth open, in awe of all those scary looking mums with their prams. I cant tell you how many times i did a double take. Somehow i dont think we will be seeing that catching on in London....
Had a busy afternoon down at the docks and wandering the financial district - will add some pix tomorrow when i get a chance to work out these PC stations...the're not normal. 3 minutes left - damn this thing sucks up your money! Ok well im gonna sign off now before it cuts me off and i lose all of this! Back soon. xxxxx
NEW YORK DAY 2:
Ok, so i finally worked out how to put pix up on here lol. Take a look as i dont know the next point i will be able to spend the time to do it! off on my TrekAmerica trip tomorrow morning (got a 6am start! Ouch) So i spent the rest of today wandering around again - i headed up to Central Park for my morning coffee and pretzel - getting a bit sick of them now to be honest and then decided to have a wonder down 5th Avenue and do a bit of window shopping. Not alot really happened, suns hot still - adding to my already sunburnt nose from yesterday - i really must remember to put sun cream on - but in the middle of october i dont really think about it! Hostels really nice - noisy air con tho, but im getting used to it. Times Square is just round the corner which is great so i headed up there last night to get some piccies, gonna wander around later and grab some dinner before heading off for a relatively early night before tomorrow - im so excited!
Take care y'all!
