Arrived in Cambodia yesterday, after a very long journey from Chiang Mai. Really didn't like being in Bangkok again, but luckily it was only a flying visit! Stupid Thais tried to scam us into paying 1300baht for our Cambodian visas, and told us our bus wouldn't wait, but we wanted to get the $20 version from the Cambodian side, and that was what most of the others were doing too. It hardly took any time at all, the only part which took long, was when we had to queue to show passport control our visas!! There was then some mix up with us and the next bus which lead to us waiting 40minutes till we could go to the bus station, fun times. Arrived at our lush hotel, a present from moonpig (thank you :D) showered and found somewhere for dinner just across the street, were so tierd so we just came back and relaxed at the hotel.
Had a lovely day today in Siem Reap, got up and had breakfast and then met our tuk tuk driver for the day (and probably the next few days) called booty.. interesting. We bought a 3 days pass for the temples, as it's the same price for 2 days, and we wanted to do a sunrise aswell! The temple ruins were so cool, all covered in moss and trees all growing around, it reminded us of something Incan (if we were to have seen any Inca stuff!). It was really beatiful and we really enjoyed the morning seeing lots of different ruins in Angkor Thom - Bayon Temple, Baboon Temple. We were pretty sick of '4 faww ten dollaaaaa' no I do not want 4 hanging star things, or whatever else they were selling. One woman literally chased us through one temple because I made the mistake of looking at something on her display, she knocked abot $4 off the price of something I didn't even want to buy (and didn't) finally she got the message.. when we drove off in our tuk tuk! We stopped for lunch at a little restaurant and both had really delicious meals, so yummy, but ate too much! We were getting pretty tired by that point as it was so hot and we'd done so much walking, so we weren't as excited to see Angkor Wat as I would have been. It was still amazing and we had a good walk through, but we were just getting too hot and were disappointed that they were doing restoration work at the moment so yo can't climb to the top or along the main walk way thing, and there's also a delightful green blob in the middle of my photo thanks to the scaffolding.
We were dropped off about 4 to our hostel and went straight to the lush lush pool and sat there for a bit. Going to go and explore 'pub street' tonight and find something to eat. Getting up at 4 to be ready to leave at 4.30am for the sunrise, it better not be cloudy.
