After 2 great days in Banff we headed for the lakes and our hotel at Lake Louise. We went to Lake Louise first and were bowled over by how beautiful it is. In the summer 10,000 people a day visit. Today there were about 100. We jumped in a canoe and paddled out on to the lake. For a while we were the only people on the lake. It was idyllic. Nothing can beat this we thought.

Next stop Lake Moraine. Another fabulous place. Surrounded by mountains. Then we headed for Emerald lake. This was the highlight so far. The water was pale green and the mountains reflected like a mirror on its surface. It seems that everywhere we go it out does the previous place.

Tomorrow we are off to Jasper via the Columbia ice fields.
